I remember the very early years of marriage and then soon after motherhood, when I felt completely exhausted, unsure of anything, and like I had been thrown into the deep end of life without even a pair of arm cuff floats to help keep my head above water. I was overwhelmed, and empty of joy.
I thought I had to know everything about being a godly wife and mother before I even began that journey, so when the pressures and demands of these portions of my life came in droves, I did not know what to do. What a blessing it was to learn that I did not have to be “perfect,” but simply commit my life to Him each day (here’s a post on embracing real life in place of an imaginary “perfect” one).
Thankfully, it was not too long after that when I began to turn to Yahweh in the Word to find hope and encouragement to continue for another day. His Word helped to attack the lies in my mind, and proclaim the Truth that brings freedom from bondage. Day after day, year after year, His Word speaks comfort to me, and continues to take captive the deceptions and worries of the world, and replace them with His total Truth (for scriptures to deal with fear and worry, click here).
